Golden Globes 2025: Live thoughts

The 82nd annual Golden Globes are on CBS on Jan. 5.

Here are my live thoughts as the show goes on:

11:12 p.m.

And the show ends with one more outfit change for Nikki Glaser.

Overall, it was a mediocre ceremony. I really missed the clips and the honoree presentations.

11:08 p.m.

Best picture comedy or musical is being presented after best picture drama. That shows how more competitive this side is.

“Emilia Perez” is the other big winner tonight.

11:04 p.m.

“The Brutalist” is stacking up wins. I need this movie to come to theaters!

10:55 p.m.

Adrian Brody wins for best actor in a drama. This makes the Oscar race interesting.

But why isn’t he getting played off? I feel like Zoe Saldana was being played off by this point…

10:49 a.m.

Wait, they put the Ted Danson and Viola Davis awards out of the telecast? I was so looking forward to that! What a ripoff!

10:40 p.m.

I’m really missing the clips. They’re only showing them for the bigger awards but with few or no dialogue.

10:27 p.m.

Again, this bit with Melissa McCarthy and Awkafina isn’t clicking.

But I’m happy to see a true comedy in “Hacks” win.

10:10 p.m.

Vin Diesel presenting the Cinematic and Box Office Acheivement award seems very appropriate.

Since “Wicked” won, I wonder if it’ll end up like “Barbie” last year, a decent amount of Oscar nominations but not any wins.

10:03 p.m.

I think Nikki Glaser used tonight as an excuse to wear as many dresses as she could. We’re at six now.

10:01 p.m.

The club score (“Challengers”) won! No wonder Elton John was so excited.

9:47 p.m.

“Flow” winning might be one of the bigger surprises of the night. I haven’t seen it yet, but I loved “The Wild Robot.”

9:45 p.m.

If this is the halfway point, this show is going to last longer than I thought, and that’s not a great thing.

And we’ve now entered the promotional part of announcers, with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford. #Marvel

9:31 p.m.

This is a big win for Demi Moore. Her speech will impress other awards body voters.

9:20 p.m.

This bit with Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara about Canadian awards is going way too long.

9:16 p.m.

Excited to see Colin Farrell win for “The Penguin.” I wish he would’ve won for “Banshees of Inisherin.”

9:08 p.m.

I think Nikki Glaser is on her fourth outfit. It’s not a huge surprise to me that “Emilia Perez” wins non-English language film.

8:54 p.m.

Jeremy Allen White has won so many of these, he didn’t even bother to show up this time.

8:44 p.m.

So far the Globes are mostly aligned with the Emmys, awarding “Shogun” and “Baby Reindeer.”

8:38 p.m.

Another costume change for Glaser?

This Pope-u-lar number is … well, ok. Glad that didn’t last long.

8:26 p.m.

Jeremy Strong is wearing a bucket hat. We need to end this comeback trend.

His “Succession” costar Kieran Culkin beat him for supporting actor in a movie, which is not a surprise.

8:24 p.m.

Nikki Glaser already has a new dress. I have no idea what the decoration is supposed to be.

8:16 p.m.

They are already running people off? Boo!

I guess the random facts are staying…not sure it’s adding anything to the show.

8:14 p.m.

Nikki Glaser should’ve worn gold not silver; what a missed opportunity. Her monologue was funny but went a tad too long.

Zoe Saldana winning for Emilia Perez fills like a win for movie STAR.

I’m very curious if these fun facts will be going throughout the night.
